More and more breaking news hits places like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram before anywhere else. While social media might be the first source, most of us don’t rely just on what they see on social media.

Your website is not exempt from being a viable news channel. Your parents and larger school community will also go to your website when that news involves your school or district. Here are some ways to start sharing news on your website.

Keep your content fresh.
If your content isn’t up to date, your viewers won’t consider you a viable news or information source, which means parents and community members will go somewhere else to seek out news about your school. No one has a better perspective on your school than you.

Segment your news page.
An increasing amount of people read news using their phones or tablets. They don’t have time to sift through massive amounts of stories just to get to the one they want. Organize your news page into categories that are easily navigable for your viewers.
