Episode 33: Talking Social Media and Networking in Academia with Dr. George Veletsianos

In this episode, I interview Dr. George Veletsianos, Associate Professor and Chair in Innovative Learning and Technology in the School of Education and Technology at the Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.  The focus of the interview is social media and open scholarship in academia. We spend time talking about his latest book, Social Media in Academia: Networked Scholars (Routledge).

The interview begins with Dr. Veletsianos discussing how he became involved in open scholarship and social media use in higher education. Dr. Veletsianos discusses the impetus behind his new book on social media in higher education. He describes the major ideas that are focused on in the book. Following this discussion, Dr. Veletsianos discusses the greatest challenges he sees with open scholarship.  The interview ends with Dr. Veletsianos providing advice about how to get involved with social media use by academics.
