Informal learning… we do it all the time! It happens when we read a blog, Google to find an answer to a question we have, watching a TED video… but how do you keep track of it all? One way is to maintain a Personal Learning Record (see my post with 5 reasons why this is a good idea anyway). Another way was demonstrated to me during a very interesting seminar organized by Cornerstone On Demand in collaboration with IDC about “Engagement in the Age of Digital Transformation”.
During this seminar one of the speakers, Francesco Pucci from Tribridge, showed how they had integrated informal learning with an LMS. Simply by adding a plugin to a browser which allowed you to add a webpage to your Learning Record. The plugin also allowed you to share what you learned with others, immediately adding the social learning aspect as well. Add in a rating system and you’re done!
