What would you do if you were in your 20’s and your vision was rapidly deteriorating? Now add to that the fact you have a wife and three small children. How are you going to support your family?
This was the situation David VanSchyndel was faced with when he was honorably discharged from the United States Army in January 2009 due to his loss of vision and chronic migraines. For a short time he worked a few manual labor positions, but it quickly became evident he was a liability and couldn’t be trusted to handle heavy machinery.
After reflecting on the skills David already had and his love of helping others, he visited Globe University where he learned more about the massage therapy program. “I didn’t know what I wanted to do, however, I knew I wanted to help others and I knew I wanted to have something physically challenging for me,” David said. “Massage therapy seemed like the best match for both of those.”
