Early this month Netflix launched in India. We, Indians, with a tendency of hyping anything foreign were overjoyed with this new entrant in the video streaming market. India’s urban population hardly had an option of streaming content online. Youngsters across the country depended on torrent for their daily dose of foreign television content.
There are no two ways about the fact that excitement reached a crescendo when Netflix announced their global launch. The painful waiting for a series to get downloaded can finally be done away with. All we had to do was to wait for a couple of minutes for the videos to buffer. A screen, a decently fast internet connection and some free time was all that anyone needed to catch up on that interesting television series that they have been meaning to catch up on.
