Life is not fair, and sometimes it can be almost too much to take. But you know the saying—when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Meet Jessica Miner. She is the definition of tough.
When she was just 10 years old, she lost her dad to a heart attack. Five years later, her mom, who vowed to always be there for her, was diagnosed with cancer. At a time in her life when most of her peers were living carefree, Jessica was thrust into the role of caregiver as her mom underwent chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the cancer proved too much, and Jessica’s mom died before being able to see her daughter graduate high school. Grief-stricken, Jessica knew she couldn’t let these tragedies define her. Instead, she used them to shape her life.
