I am proud to announce that a hometown school district, San Antonio ISD, is opening a hi-tech high school. The official announcement was made on the district’s website. The curriculum will be ‘new tech’ based. What is new tech you ask? Well, according to SAISD, new tech is, “teams of students working in a 1:1 student to computer environment, researching, communicating and solving real problems in our community”. This concept may be new to the high school but is not a new concept in curriculum around the globe. 1 to 1, or 1:1, is not a new concept but in my opinion a definite welcome concept for the new hi-tech high school.
I am really excited what this type of learning environment holds for the new high school’s students. Students will learn coding, video editing, and a host of new skills from problem based learning activities.
