Personal Learning Records (PLR), most of us have heard about this by now. It’s – as its name implies – a personal record of all training/learning you’ve done. A place where you can keep track of both your formal and informal learnings. Ideally this PLR would be hosted and maintained somewhere in the cloud, with privacy settings that allow you to chose who can see what (although I don’t really believe in online privacy, but that’s for another blog).

For example, share it with your manager, peers, (prospective) employers etc. Increase awareness of how much we learn on the job or informally. More than most people think! One place where you yourself can see an overview of everything you’ve learned. Makes it easer for others to find you as they can see what your areas of expertise are. Inspiration! Both your own PLR as well as looking at other people’s PLR can be an inspiration as to where you can go or what you can do to learn more.
