This state of affairs makes it important to spell out exactly what’s going on with education benefits for military spouses these days. Here are five things you might not realize about what’s up under the My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) program.

Military spouses: There is money set aside for your schooling.

Many military spouses have heard of MyCAA, but don’t know much about it and fail to learn more. The unfortunate result is that they needlessly forfeit their free education subsidy.

MyCAA offers up to $4,000 toward the cost of tuition at the trade school of your choice. This government-funded package is available to the spouses of service members in one of these ranks: E1-E5, W1-W-2, or O1-O2. It does not have to be paid back.
