5 Tips for When Your Military Kid Starts a New School

Kids have no control over where the military takes their family and that can make things difficult for them if they have to start new schools over and over again. Here are some tips to ease the process:

Check in: Your child may exhibit abnormal emotions and behaviors while trying to adjust. This is ok, but make sure to check in and help them adjust in a healthy way.

Community:  Help encourage a social circle around your child. Find groups or extracurricular activities that can help them make friends.

School Work: Try and check the curriculum for every class your child is in – they may have missed an important lesson due to the move.

Resources: Contact your base’s School Liason and check Facebook for local military family groups to see if they have any recommendations.
