Have you ever heard the old adage, “What gets measured gets done”? Well, if you ask me, it’s pretty true. By changing what you measure from, “How many reports can you file in a day?” to, “How many reports can you file error-free in a day?” you can change your business outcomes.
Choosing the right KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to track across our teams has great potential to influence our outcomes, but too often people use the wrong KPIs or too many KPIs, and they don’t know what to do with the data that they collect. Whether you’re the one being asked to create KPIs, report progress against them, or present recommendations based on your findings, or you just receive a bunch of seemingly random numbers each quarter, harnessing the power of effective KPIs can seem elusive.
