Blended Learning and 70:20:10

The terms “Blended Learning” and “70:20:10” have been around for quite a while, but recently they have become inescapable in the L&D world.  This blog sets out to briefly explain both and the relationship between the two:

When the learning is delivered using a blend of different techniques to accomplish the learning objectives.

A simple concept that people learn in 3 different ways.  70% of the time they figure it out for themselves, in the moment, and on the job.  20% of the time they ask a co-worker, mentor, or boss.  Only 10% of the time do people seek out formal learning.  


That 10% is where the L&D industry lives - whether it is face-to-face training or eLearning, or a blend of any other type of learning with those styles.
