Body Language in the Bandwidth
I’ve been working in the ‘synchronous world’ since the late 1990′s, about the same time that people began to ‘blog’. I was writing at the time – for print magazines, for new ezines, and, eventually, traditional print books. But I didn’t blog. I thought about it. I talked about it. I even created a Blogger site. But I don’t think I ever posted even once. You’ve heard of camera shy? I was ‘blog shy.’ I was convinced that every time I wrote someething, the audience (what audience?) would expect brilliance. And I didn’t have any on-demand brilliance to provide. Here we are, nearly 15 years later, and people are asking me the same questions. For example: How do I engage my audience? What if the technology doesn’t work? When can i go back to the ‘real’ classroom? We’ve addressed some quetions (Like #1 and #2 above) in textbooks and training programs, but there is still quite a bit of anecdotal information to share. Other questions (like #3) are more existential, and require anecdotes and conversation. Searching for the Body Langauge in the Bandwidth is a blog that attempts to answer these nuts and bolts questions, with no promises of brilliance. As with any training conversation, one idea should lead to another. As the blog name implies, this is a search for answers. Who knows where it will lead? Thanks for joining me on the search.
