The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 puts digital inclusion under the spotlight. It’s an opportunity to wave the diversity flag and call for greater attention to digitally inclusive practice.

For a number of years I’ve had  an inflammatory eye condition called Uveitis which is treated with steroid drops and

  sometimes

injections.

Yep – in the eye.

I see the needle coming!

Steroids dilate the pupil, letting in too much light and blurring my sight.  It’s a first-class experience of vision impairment.

Also, for several years I helped people with sight loss to use the internet. This, alongside setting up DITTO (Disabled Information Technology Training Opportunities) at Centre 88, in Hull, showed me how inclusive practice is essential for digital equality.
