Success is usually thought of as something positive that has occurred in a person's career, such as receiving a promotion, or it may be something that has eluded them despite their best attempts. It is often associated with material items accumulated or a specific level of income attained. Definitions of success vary and that's why it is possible to sell yourself short if you make comparisons to someone else. During career coaching my clients often talk about what they have not achieved and express it in terms of failure. It is unlikely that anyone does not want to be successful but getting there may be a mystery for some people. What I teach my clients is that you must learn to make success a phrase that works for you as you can decide what it means and how you want to apply it to your career.
