Comments

Following on from Sheila MacNeill’s post ‘A slow decline, or a sign of something else? Where have all the bloggers gone?‘, I’ve wondered about blogging and, more importantly, the comments section.

‘Where have all the bloggers gone’ is a good question, and one that Sheila is able to provide some answers to (hint – they’re still there, but maybe not as frequent or vocal as they used to be?) but it’s also interesting to ask ‘where have all the comments gone?’

I, for one, turned off the native WordPress commenting feature many years ago due to the amount of spam and utter trash that was being posted. In turn, I tried the Disqus system, which for a while was better. But even Disqus caused issues on how this blog/site was running, I still got spam I either needed to moderate or it somehow got through. In June 2019 I turned that off permanently too.
