When Ashanta White first started attending college at Globe University – Green Bay, she was terrified. In the past, she was conditioned to associate school with loss. During her previous years in school, she lost her father, grandmother and mother. She quickly had to become an adult. So when she received a card in the mail from Globe, she contemplated whether or not she’d be able to handle school again.
She spoke with her uncle, and he was enthusiastic for her to become a law enforcement officer and gave her the support she needed. The next people she had to talk to were her boys. They asked questions like will you get to carry a gun? Will you get to take people out? But just then she remembered this quote by Madam C. J. Walker, “Don’t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them.”
