For people who are out of work, job-seeking can be a frustrating process, as time and again they are politely turned down for vacancies. It is hard to keep going and going after multiple rejections, but it may be worth thinking if there is anything you need to do differently – and that starts with reviewing your resume.

Recruiters aren’t going to be gentle and interview everyone who applies for a vacancy; only a small portion of applicants will be called for interview. If they see a resume that’s rife with spelling mistakes, superfluous prose about a trophy you won in 6th grade or meaningless clichés about being ‘a hard worker’ or ‘a good communicator’, they’re going to dismiss it immediately.
