Dependent’s Military ID Cards – The Double Digit Excitement!

For children the year they hit 10, or their double digit, is a HUGE day. I remember when my daughter hit hers; it was an all-consuming conversation from her 9th birthday on. In the life of a military child it’s an even bigger day because it’s when they are eligible to get their first military ID card.

Getting your first military ID is such a big moment. You now ‘belong’ in a sense, there is also such an immense sense of pride for our children on this day. There is also a lot of responsibility that comes with their ID card. They are now an even larger representation of their active duty parent(s), they have to be responsible for a card with a decent amount of personal identification and they are able to visit the commissary or the exchange with their own ID.
