Developing Digital Pedagogy

Last week I flew out to Germany to take part in the tongue twistingly entitled Mobilising and Transforming Teacher Education Pedagogies Conference (MTTEP for short), a European funded project to look at how educators from across Europe can address the shortcomings of digital pedagogy within school. You see over the past decade schools have been investing huge sums of money into technology in a bid to improve learning outcomes. In the UK it’s estimated that we’ve spent £1 billion since 2000 on ICT alone, yet we have nothing measurable to show for it. It reads like a headline in the Daily Mail but schools do exist on the periphery that break this trend, and not only do they improve their classrooms but they transform their institutions. So how do a few succeed where many fail?
