Do you also find it challenging to include essential scaffolds in your eLearning courses? In a conventional class where the instructor can directly monitor students’ learning progress or challenges, scaffolds can be provided where and when necessary. But how about an online course with no possibility of monitoring the students’ learning? As we all know scaffolding should be tailored to the needs of the learners. While this is a challenge to learning designers who cannot monitor the learners’ learning and have to only rely on the initial learner analysis, there are still some strategies we can use to provide the best possible scaffolds to meet the learners’ needs. Further, as learning designers, we should anticipate the errors and challenges of the learners.
