Engaging e-learning for the digital native

New tribes are evolving in technological realms that are hungry for fresh ways to learn. Digital natives are people for whom digital technologies already existed when they were born, and so have grown up with digital technology such as computers, the Internet, mobile phone and iPods [1]. Generation X, as one tribe is known, uses technology such as Facebook, Twitter and iTunes, to support their lifestyle. The same technology can allow them to learn and work hard. These tribes are driving the technology revolution and agenda today. Here Lincolnshire County Council's Ian Richards, Manager of Work Based Learning for Teenage Services, describes their approach to tapping into the skills of these digital users to deliver successful e-learning.
