In this episode, I talk with Dr. Jason Huett who is the Associate Dean of Online Development and USG eCore. He is also an Associate Professor of Instructional Technology at the University of West Georgia. Dr. Huett discusses his role in developing a state-wide higher education consortium in Georgia that provides a pathway for post traditional students to earn a degree through online distance education. He explains how the consortium was set up, how it operates, and the challenges associated with operating a consortium of this nature. Dr. Huett discusses best practices for designing and delivering online teaching and learning–focusing in on post traditional students. He ends the interview with advice for educator and instructional designers who are working with or would like to work with online students and distance education. Dr. Huett provides numerous insights throughout the interview on how to ensure the success of online distance education programs.
