In honor of Computer Science Education Week, FLVS is excited to announce that enrollment is now open for our newest career and technical education (CTE) course, M/J Coding Fundamentals for middle/junior high students.
According to Code.org, 67 percent of all new jobs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are in computing. In addition, 90 percent of parents want their child to study computer science.
M/J Coding Fundamentals is a half-credit elective. In the course, students are introduced to the basics of computer science and explore technology we use in our everyday lives. Students also learn how to build a website using HTML. Check out a sample video from the course below!
Through engaging videos and interactives, simplified coding instructions, and software embedded in the course, students will also have the opportunity to create their own text-based game using Python.
