Four Amazing Virtual Field Trips

As technology continues to become more and more prevalent in classrooms – and necessary – teachers are finding ways to leverage these technology advances to offer lessons they couldn’t have done through traditional methods. There isn’t a textbook or encyclopedia in the world that could take students to different places around the world – and beyond – the way a computer or personal device can today.

Virtual field trips are becoming commonplace online and more and more companies are creating high-end trips to engage a larger student audience. Museums, art galleries, and historical landmarks can be visited with the click of a mouse.

Of course, you can build your own field trips as well. Next time you visit a museum or local historical landmark, take along a video and still camera. Record your journey and experiences on video and upload them to YouTube. Take photographs of of various landmarks, signs, and informational offerings. Post it all in your learning management system and allow your students to share in your experience without ever having to sign a permission slip or leave their desks.
