Nelson Lang, founder of Pita Pit, sought to provide a healthier alternative to the usual fast food fare when they opened the first Pita Pit in Kingston, Ontario in 1995. Twenty years later, Pita Pit now has 240 operating franchised outlets with 12 of them being corporate owned. The Pita Pit serves a soft pita sandwich filled with customers' choice of grilled meat, vegetable toppings and zesty sauces. Most stores are between 1200 and 1500 square feet, with eat-in, carry-out and delivery options. Pita Pit has been franchising since 1999 and has a $192,550-318,679 investment range with $75,000 as minimum capital required.
