Germany: Makerist raises €5 million Series B

Berlin-based DIY learning platform Makerist has raised a €5 million Series B from Gruner + Jahr Digital Ventures, Ringier Digital Ventures, High-Tech Gründerfonds, and OZ Verlag.

Founded in 2013 by Amber Riedl and Axel Heinz, Makerist produces online video lessons for people interested in DIY. The startup also features an online shop, providing hobbyists with the material needed for the different projects.

The funding will be used for international expansion and course production.

Sofatutor is another Berlin-based edtech startup specializes in video lessons. The company, however,  is active in the K-12 and Higher Education verticals.
