GU – Eau Claire Massage Students Partner with St. Joseph’s Hospice Center

Students in the massage therapy program see a wide range of clients and get hours upon hours of practice in massage prior to starting their first massage position.

Jeaneen Roberts’ special populations massage class decided to help an organization very much in need of some uplifting. Globe University – Eau Claire students recently worked with hospice patients, caregivers and volunteers at the St. Joseph’s Hospice Center to provide massages.

“They came together as such as great team. There were shared duties and they all commented on how great it is to have so many unique ideas and be able to pool them together,” Roberts said.

Beforehand, students prepared gift bags, memory jars and flowers for each client to take with them. Students were responsible for planning the event from start to finish, including preparing a budget. They served food and beverages for the staff, patients, and volunteers. Students were asked to figure out whether or not doing something like this to promote their future individual massage business would be something worthwhile.
