Monkimun, a language learning startup with offices in Madrid, Spain and San Francisco, raised a $1 million Seed round from a group of investors including 500 Startups, Incuvest, SHOzemi Innovation Ventures, Lanzame Capital and angel investors Ian Noel, Iñaki Arrola and Carina Szpilka.
The startup creates language learning applications for two- to six-year-olds, an age in which their brains are at their most flexible stage and cognitively suited to learn a second language, according to Monkimun.
The team participated in batch 10 of 500 Startups last year. Over the past six months, the apps have been downloaded more than 1 million times, user growth has been consistent at 15% month-over-month. Currently, 20.000 children are learning with Monkimun apps on a daily basis.
