Josh Waitzkin, Learning Guru

I’ve talked about Tim Ferriss, author of The 4-Hour Work Week, in a previous blog post. He has brought another great learning guru to my attention: Josh Waitzkin, the chess prodigy depicted in Searching for Bobby Fischer.

The Tim Ferriss Show is a weekly podcast where he interviews various top performers. In a recent podcast he talked to Josh Waitzkin about his philosophies on learning and how to incorporate that information into effective training. The conversation jumps around topics, but it always comes back around to learning and is quite fascinating. It is worth the two hours to listen to. I listened to it while weeding flowerbed, but kept stopping to make notes in my iPhone. I discovered while gathering information for this post that Tim does an awesome job on his podcast web pages. He provides links to books that are mentioned, topics covered, and additional resources, so you can easily enjoy the episode during your work commute or yard work.
