Managing iPad in the classroom

Last night we attended a great TeachMeet at Astley Sports College. Some great presentations looking at various apps, of which Jay has covered some of the top hitters here. There was a bit of a missed opportunity regarding managing iPad in the classroom. Several teachers had their own individual devices, and a few to use in the class.

Im going to go through one of the greatest features of iOS which allows staff to hand over personal devices to students, and a way of managing individual devices in the classroom. Before I start, this is not for managing many devices, but instead a way of limiting one student to what they can access. I am sure you can all think of one student who continues to do the exact opposite of what he/she is told when using the iPad (like playing Angry Birds and launching the catapult when you have said specifically not to!)…this is for them!
