Globe University-Appleton’s medical assistant student Santrelle Thompson says she chose the school and the program because of the small class sizes and hands-on experience. Now in her last quarter, she is doing an externship at Aurora Family Practice in Oshkosh. She also just recently accepted a position as a medical assistant at Catalpa Health in Appleton, a new pediatric mental health clinic in the area.

Because of her extensive hands-on classes and experiences at Globe, she was comfortable jumping into her externship right away on day one.

“From the first day with my preceptor, anything I felt comfortable doing she let me show my skills and gave me feedback if needed,” says Santrelle. Medical assisting program chair, Michelle Vanden Heuvel is not surprised. “She has always put forth her best effort in her classes and is always willing to help her classmates!,” Michelle says.
