Neck Stretches for Computer Workers

Did you know the average weight of a human head hovers between 8-10 pounds? That means we carry the equivalent of a bowling ball around all day perched atop our spine and our shoulders. It is no wonder then that sitting up and staring at the computer for hours on end each day is taxing!

Strained neck muscles are not only uncomfortable; they can cause tension headaches and other persistent issues. While computer work related issues can be rather unavoidable due to our professions, there are simple ways to alleviate the pain. Power through your day pain-free by pausing to try these four gentle neck stretches every hour or so.

Perform each of these stretches while in a comfortable, neutral sitting or standing position with eyes closed or looking into the distance- not down at a computer or cell phone screen!
