Online Exercise Science Student Kick Starts Senior Fitness with Free Classes

Kick starting an exercise program for your community is no easy feat. Online exercise science student Jen Bauer, of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, was up for the challenge when she decided she would offer free senior fitness classes to her community. Jen not only created a program, she also joined the township’s parks and recreation committee to make this happen.

The catalyst for the exercises program creation was Jen’s Special Population’s Program Design course. Part of the course was to volunteer with an organization that worked with a special population. She had an idea in mind and ran with it!

This project then carried over to the Trends in Health and Wellness course when Jen was asked to write a paper about creating a medical fitness program in her community.
