Online Safety Courses across the Canada

The biggest challenge from an employer’s point of view for safety training is choosing what courses are required and what courses are recommended. There are so few standards set in the safety training industry that a large number of organizations are trying to fill these gaps like OSSA, ENFORM, & CSA to name a few.

There is a dying need for a government agency to take over the safety standards in this country. OH&S creates the legislation, but there isn’t a process for safety training companies to get their courses certified by an accredited organization. This costs industry in wasted time and exploring, reviewing, recognizing and debating different training programs and standards. In Northern Alberta the major companies created their own Safety Association known as OSSA (Oil Sands Safety Association) which is a partnership between Syncrude, Suncor, Shell and CNR in order to fill this gap.
