Prepare Your Documents for Google Drive

Your district has decided to adopt Chromebooks. You are excited that your students will now have a device in their hands everyday. You get all of your kids enrolled in your Google Classroom and upload the first assignment to distribute to students. The students get to class, download the assignment to their Chromebooks, and then promptly raise their hands because they cannot open it. You have distributed an assignment you created as a Microsoft Word file and now it is useless to the students. All of the assignments you have ever created are useless, you’ll have to start over from scratch…or do you?

Of course you don’t have to start over. There are ways to convert documents within Google Drve so that they will become Google Apps for Education files that can be opened from any computer anyplace you have an internet connection. (You don’t necessarily need an internet connection to modify documents, but that is another post altogether.)
