Project Management: Little Details Make a Big Difference

Project management is one of the fastest growing areas in the business world today. By definition, it must not be something a company does as a normal part of their business; it must be a separate entity.

Project management class is designed to show the student all aspects of how to plan, design and implement a project.

A project has a defined start and completion and incorporates all aspects of business skills. Some of the most common skills needed are time management, human resources management, how to negotiate and how to lead and control. If you are in project management you are the CEO of that project; there is no one else to make the difficult decisions.

In the spring 2016 class, we took a newspaper article on how Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is going to demolish a bridge crossing Interstate 94 in St. Paul. The time constraints begin with lane closures beginning 8 p.m. Friday and the freeway must be open by 5 a.m. Monday.
