Science with a Beat: Avi Silber, Northwest High School

Overview
Northwest High School science teacher, Avi Silber, and his collection of science students are using music to help students better understand and be interested in science.

Kaylyn Battle, the club President, explains:

4SW stands for Secret Society of Science Song-Writers. We are an after school club that meets on Thursdays at Northwest High School. 4SW is a warm friendly environment that welcomes anyone with passion for music or science. 4SW was created in the spring of 2013, since then 4SW has produced 14 songs. Within the club we focus on developing musical production skills, as well as strong scientific knowledge. Each song 4SW produces has an instrumental, and lyrics that are made completely from scratch each time. During the process, software such as FL Studio™, Pro Tools LE ™, Adobe Premiere ™, and After Effects ™ are used.
