Should Online Teachers and E-learning Educators have an online social learning community ?

The simple answer to this question is yes, online Teachers and E-learning Educators should have an online social learning community?  Vygotsky put forward a learning theory that people learn through interactions and communications with others.  He examined how our social environments influence the learning process.  He suggested that learning takes place through the interactions students have with their peers, teachers, and other experts.  With online courses, this theory still applies and online teachers and e-learning educators should be mindful of this.  Technology and social media allows communities connect at any time in any place. Online teaching and e-learning is education without boarders. Fostering relationships between students and peers to reinforce learning and enhance the student experience, no matter where the student is, should be encouraged through the use of online social learning communities.
