Tap into the Power of the Crowd

Our students have access to a worldwide audience through their social networks. This audience can provide them knowledge, support, advice, resources, or funding. Tapping into the power of the crowd is known as crowdsourcing and crowdfunding. Our digital learners need to understand the role crowdsourcing and crowdfunding plays in promoting causes, startups, and innovation.  This is why in my new book, Hacking Digital Learning Strategies: 10 Ways to Launch EdTech Missions in Your Classroom, one of the missions is for peers to collaborate on a crowdfund campaign to support a local need or cause. By completing this mission students make a real world impact and gain knowledge in statistics, finance, analytics, design, video editing and persuasive writing. Join us every Sunday on Twitter for the #EdtechMissions chat (10am to 10:30amET; click for more time zones) where we share ideas and resources.
