Teachers: It’s about time for a personal blog

For a lot of teachers, the idea of blogging doesn’t hold much appeal. It’s time consuming, particularly if you’re doing it right and digging deep, pondering on each keystroke. You’re pushing yourself out of a safe, exclusive classroom environment and publishing your thoughts “out there” in a politically charged environment (the rest of the wide-open world).

Let’s face it: if you’ve spent any time in the comments section of more popular blogs, what you’ve read isn’t something you want your students (or parents) coming across, either.

Despite this, the number of teachers starting up blogs and putting themselves “out there” increases with each passing year. They’ve learned to peel back the corners of their concerns, and in the process have discovered the value of the publicly shared written word…
