The 5 skills you need to master to get a promotion at work

Landing a job promotion is one of the most difficult professional tasks, yet most people are content to sit idly by and hope that a promotion will be handed to them in time.  Why is that? Here at eLearning Sherpa we feel this comes from the old misconception that employment seniority dictates value. This is a carry over from back when manufacturing and agriculture were the primary employing industries and were both mostly driven by manual task labour.  As you worked somewhere longer, you got better at the tasks which provided more value to the company.

But today’s employment landscape is much different. The employer – employee relationship is shifting drastically and it is no longer true that seniority is the main driver of an employee’s value to the company.  Companies are much more inclined to promote someone who demonstrates their value to the organization.
