The Growth of Online Learning

Survey data released from the Education Department’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System has revealed that online learning is continuing to experience steady growth in the United States. While enrollment at bricks and mortar institutions has been relatively unaffected, online enrollment, particularly at non-profit institutions, continues to climb.

Western Governors University and Arizona State University experienced the largest growth in online student enrollment, while most for-profit universities experienced declined enrollment.

The survey also concluded that community college students were most likely to be enrolled in online classes compared to those at four-year public institutions and four-year private colleges.
