The Internet and Me

The Internet one of the greatest inventions of all time has significantly transformed many aspects of my life today. From the moment I wake up in the morning until the time I go to bed at night, the internet plays a crucial role in my daily activities. I remember for the first time using an Internet browser and being in awe at the amount of information available at my fingertips. The thought of being able to search through articles, books, and even entire encyclopedias was fascinating. I was stationed in Waegwan, Korea at the time and my entire unit of about 700 soldiers had three computers but only two of them had a dial-up modem to connect to the Internet. Our connection speed maxed out at 14.4k so you could type your search and wait for about five minutes before the pages started to pull up on the monitor. The browser was Mosaic, and the web pages were text-only back then. To put things into perspective, please watch the video animation below for a more detailed Internet History from 1962 through 2010.
