The language of the lockdown

Perhaps it is just me, but I detect a subtle shift in the language that we are now using to communicate with each other. We know that all language does change with time and culture, but often it is only recognisable in retrospect. At one time, people would greet each other by shaking hands and asking, “How do you do”? Now our response is likely to be, “How do I do what?” We understand that we are being asked a question, but the context has changed.
