Tutor of the Week: Meet Masih

Masih recently completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia. He is now a Control Engineer, which is a branch of Mechatronic Engineering. After some extensive Googling (I had never heard of Mechatronic Engineering before!) I discovered that it is the incorporation of electronics into mechanisms (hence the name). A good example of this would be robotics. Or more specifically, the development of things such as anti-lock brake systems and digital thermometers. Needless to say, I am no expert in the subject so let’s leave that to Masih and find out more about him in the process.

How long have you been tutoring/teaching: I first started as a TA in the Control’s Labs and a tutor for undergraduate students while working on my master’s degree in 2006. My first tutoring experience at UBC was when I held a EUS (Engineering Undergraduate Society) review session back in 2012. I have been tutoring students through online ads and by word-of-mouth ever since!
