Web Design Trends and eLearning: A merging path?

When I first started to get my teeth stuck into technology enhanced learning (TEL), or eLearning as we referred to it then, the key message was about pedagogy over technology. The pedagogic design was all that really mattered, and this led to the development of 'learning modules' - Blackboard/WebCT's early attempts at stringing together a number of HTML pages (and bits like forums, etc) that enabled learners to progress through with relative ease.
