The other evening I had the opportunity to attend a spouses’ meet and greet event. One of the wives planned the event and titled it “Sweet Spouses Speed Meet.” As indicated by the title, the event was set up just like speed dating, where attendees would have the opportunity to chat for a few minutes in pairs and meet other spouses we might not have otherwise met. It was open to all the spouses on the base, including any male spouses.

Around 50 people RSVPed for the event, but close to 35 of them cancelled very last minute. That left about 20 of us who showed up to the event… and that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Since there were less people, we had the opportunity to spend more time with one another (and eat more of the delicious snacks provided!).
