Workplace Diversity and Why it Matters

Diversity. It’s a word that has been thrown around a lot in politics, business and education. But when we talk about diversity, unfortunately we tend to talk more about the lack of it. If you think about it, we are all diverse. Factors such as age, gender, ethnicity, education, knowledge and skills are what make us different from one another.

You could go even further and add hobbies, personality and childhood upbringing to that list.  Your moral principles, style of communication and motivational drivers are now also considered part of workplace diversity. But why do our workplaces seem to do so little to encourage and support it? By championing diversity in its many forms, companies could not only attract a wider pool of talent but also go a long way to creating a more inclusive and cohesive working environment.
