You only learn in the present moment

Everything you experience is in the present moment, but most of the day we aren’t aware that we are thinking about the past or future while in the present moment. When you’re conscious of this mental time traveling, it brings attention to the present, which can help you make the most of your experience. 

Reflecting on the past and imagining the future are part of the learning process and are more helpful to you if you can do so while bringing awareness to the process. When you spend too much energy on the past or future, you’re missing out on so many opportunities for joy and growth.
